Cardinal Glass Selects Systems Consulting Group for Strategic IT Initiatives

SCG's Process-oriented Approach and Deep AEC Expertise Were Key Factors for High-Growth Manufacturer

ST. PAUL, MINN, July 1, 2007—Systems Consulting Group (SCG), a leading business process and technology consulting firm, today announced that Cardinal Glass has joined the ranks of clients who are experiencing positive business results as a result of SCG's leadership on several key IT infrastructure initiatives. The company represents a showcase example of SCG's process-driven approach to complex IT projects and the breadth and depth of SCG's expertise in the architectural, engineering and construction (AEC) sector.

With more than 5,500 employees from 27 factories operating nationwide, Cardinal Glass is a recognized leader in residential glass applications. Due to rapid growth, a decentralized operational structure, and a companywide Oracle E1 implementation, the company was experiencing a chaotic explosion of project plans, issues lists, and related documentation; and tracking and version control were causing project setbacks. Cardinal Glass enlisted the help of SCG's expert consultants.

"It was clear from our first meeting with SCG that their consultants have a deep understanding of the AEC marketplace and the complexities associated with a multi-location manufacturing firm like ours," said Dan Hodorff, director of networking and PC systems for Cardinal Glass. "What impressed me most was the extent of their business analysis and the care with which they assessed our entire organization before beginning to design our core architecture. SCG has created a solid foundation upon which our organization can build for many years into the future."

In the first phase of a two-phase strategy, SCG led a companywide implementation of Microsoft Enterprise Project Management (EPM) to handle project plans for the Oracle initiative. In Phase 2, SCG developed and implemented a custom Microsoft SharePoint server for central storage and version control of much of the company's electronic files and documents. The SharePoint server was also designed to evolve into a corporate portal, accommodating a future self-service help desk application, a corporate knowledge base and ultimately the Microsoft EPM.

"As a decentralized manufacturer of products for the AEC sector, Cardinal Glass presented a perfect opportunity to leverage our industry knowledge and our unique IT methodology to deliver very meaningful, long-term value to this client," said Dan Grady, CEO for SCG. "Together, we have charted an IT roadmap that will be instrumental in sustaining the continued growth and success of Cardinal Glass, and we look forward to building on this relationship going forward."
